Mind Your Vibe
“Everything is energy and that is all there is to it…This is not philosophy. This is physics. - Albert Einstein
Energy.
I’m not talking about nuclear, solar, or fossil fuels—I mean personal, human energy. The kind that powers your thoughts, your emotions, your movements, and even that unseen vibe you carry around with you. We’re energy beings, constantly consuming and expending energy in a never-ending cycle.
The thing is, most of that energy gets used without us even realizing it. Our bodies handle a lot behind the scenes—breathing, blinking, digesting, keeping our hearts beating. Even our emotional responses, like fight or flight, can kick in automatically. But here’s where it gets tricky: we also give away a ton of our mental, emotional, and physical energy to people and situations that drag us down—often without noticing.
Our emotional energy is deeply human. It’s what connects us. Some people connect through love, others through fear, anger, or joy. And while it’s natural to experience a full range of emotions, the real question is: Which ones are running the show in your life? Fear and anger—or love and joy?
Lately, it’s understandable if you’ve found yourself stuck in a heavier emotional pattern. The world’s been a lot. But when negativity sticks, it starts to seep into our day-to-day lives more than we should let it.
Anger, fear, frustration, hate—they’re all forms of energy. But they’re also pretty draining. So why would anyone choose to stay in that space? Well, most of the time, we don’t consciously choose it. That’s the key word: consciously.

Introducing Personal Energy Management
Most of us were taught to mind our manners. But how much better off would we be if we’d also been taught to mind our energy?
The first step is awareness. Start noticing what you’re “plugging into” throughout your day—and how it makes you feel. What’s charging you up? What’s draining you? I’m not saying it’s always easy, but honestly, you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Do regular check-ins with yourself. How are you feeling right now? Anxious or calm? Angry or joyful? Fearful or hopeful?
We each have our own unique supply of personal energy—our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, time, talents, experiences, and dreams. These are your real assets, your power, your true currency in life.
"If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." - Piece Pilgrim
Now more than ever, it’s crucial that we get intentional about how we spend that energy. When we’re not paying attention—when we’re asleep at the wheel—it’s like driving with our eyes closed. That never ends well.
So let’s be real with ourselves. Are we making decisions from our hearts or from our egos? Are we choosing peace or chaos? When we let negativity run the show, we miss out on all the good that’s actually happening around us.
And here’s the truth: You can’t build a joyful life on a foundation of discontent.
Shift Your Perspective
Start small. Notice what is working in your life. It might be your favorite coffee mug, a beautiful sunrise, or a friend who always knows just what to say. Try writing these things down—start a gratitude journal, even if it’s just one line a day. The little things truly matter.
Here’s a personal example: When I open YouTube looking for a meditation, I’m bombarded with other videos—news, drama, politics, fitness, you name it. And let’s be honest, it’s tempting to click on a juicy headline that stirs up fear or anger. But I’ve learned to pause and ask myself: Is this really where I want my energy to go?
Choosing the meditation video instead? That’s a win for my energy. A small moment of mindfulness that shifts the whole vibe.
And that’s really the heart of it: You can catch yourself in the moment—and shift.
“At every moment, we always have a choice, even if it feels as if we don’t. Sometimes that choice may simply be to think a more positive thought.” — Tina Turner
Feeling irritated, sad, or angry? Don’t ignore it, but don’t feed it either. Instead, try shifting your focus to something that brings calm or joy. Think of someone who makes you smile. Listen to music that lifts you up. Notice a flower. Laugh at a dog video. Go for a walk. Move your body. Move your energy. Change your energy.
Try a Dopamine Menu
One trick I love is creating a Dopamine Menu—a simple list of feel-good activities, kind of like a restaurant menu, that you can “order from” when you need a boost. It could include things like calling a friend, dancing to your favorite song, watching a funny video, or making a cup of tea.
The idea is to have go-to options ready for those moments when you’re triggered or feeling off. For me? It’s puppies playing in a pool. Works every time.
The point is: Curate joy. Keep it handy. Use it often.
You’ve Got This
It really is that simple. And yes—it really works. The more you practice managing your energy, the more you’ll notice your experiences shifting. You’ll find more good, more love, more peace—even in the middle of chaos.
You’re in charge of your vibe. You’re empowered to choose what feels better for you.
So here’s to putting your energy where it matters most: love, kindness, creativity, joy. You’re building something beautiful, and it starts from within.
